Early Beginnings
My passion for casino games started very early. When I was a kid, I watched my dad play poker with a few of his closest friends. Of course, I knew nothing about the game, but I remember them looking all serious during the game. Naturally, I didn’t know what the term “poker face” meant.
It wasn’t until I became of legal age and went to a real casino that I actually got to know what playing card games really meant. I knew all the rules and played blackjack and poker with my friends, but playing in a casino couldn’t even compare — it was surreal. I remember that the first casino I have ever visited left me speechless. I went to Vegas with my friends and visited The Mirage. Everything was so new and bright, with flashing lights, and I just stood there for some time soaking it all in.
That’s when I realized there was so much more to learn, and that all casino games required skill. It took me a long time to learn the ins and outs of diverse casino games, and I’m still learning something new, day in and day out.
While I was in the Army, I didn’t miss a chance to play some cards with friends. When we were deployed, shuffling a deck of cards and playing blackjack or poker was a perfect way to take our minds off what was actually happening around us. I like to think that was the time when I perfected my strong poker face.
Even though I attended the University of Florida where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in History, I realized my true passion has always been card games. I have worked as a historic building inspector, and I enjoyed my day job for some time, but it was nothing like going on a road trip to Vegas Strip. Just seeing those flashing lights while driving down Las Vegas Boulevard and the sound of slot machines gave me chills.
I used my free time to visit different tournaments in Florida casinos, and I don’t mean to sound braggy, but I was really good. After having won a few blackjack tournaments, I realized that casino games were my one and only passion. I had left my stable job and dedicated my time to learning all that I could about casinos and all the gambling opportunities they offered. It took me a while to come to terms with it, simply because I didn’t have much support in the beginning. People couldn’t believe I could support myself and my family, but I am happy to say I proved them wrong.
How Did CasinoUSA Come to Be?
I invested a lot of time doing research about casinos all over the world, and I knew the online casino industry has been present for quite some time — just not in the US. I had always wanted to see how it felt not having to leave your home to have some fun and enjoy casino games.
Two years ago, in 2018, something big happened — PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) got overturned. This meant that every US state could give licenses to operators who wanted to offer online gambling activities. And that’s when the online gambling industry in the US was born.
I can’t say I was all for it in the beginning, but it certainly piqued my interest. I was skeptical simply because I didn’t believe an online casino platform could give me something I hadn’t already experienced in a real casino. However, after a few months, I had to admit I was actually blown away because I realized the actual potential and opportunities of online casinos.
Why I Chose to Do This
The most difficult thing for me was to relax while playing in an online casino because I was worried about leaving my personal and banking information online. However, after doing some research and learning how to find secure online casinos, I was finally able to enjoy a game of blackjack.
Each of these platforms goes through rigorous reviews before it receives a license to operate. That was enough to give me peace of mind. Now, I love the fact that I can easily make deposits using my preferred payment method and know that this information won’t be mistreated.
Nevertheless, I still enjoy driving down to Calder Casino here in Miami and playing a classic game of blackjack. However, with three kids, it’s a lot easier to simply open my browser and play in an online casino. And, thanks to online platforms, I was able to learn so many new blackjack variations, such as Blackjack Switch, Spanish 21, Progressive Blackjack, and similar.
I also gained a newfound respect for online slot providers — it’s such a competitive market, with thousands of online slot games and variants. In the beginning, I felt overwhelmed by how wide the selection of these games was.
So, when I want to take a small break from strategizing and thinking about my next move, I simply go and spin a few reels. I find online slots very relaxing and fun. My current favorites are Starburst by NetEnt, Book of Ra by Novomatic, and Thunderstruck II by Microgaming.
The online casino scene in the US has just scratched the surface and it still has room for growth and improvement. As soon as I became aware of the fact that I could play my favorite version of blackjack or spin some slot reels online, I knew I wanted to share it with others.
The US online casino industry still has a long way to go, but I am here to follow every step of the way, and let you know what’s actually happening.
I can’t do this my own
However, at one point, I realized there was no way I could do this on my own. There were so many particular details and aspects of an online casino industry, and I wanted to cover all of them. That was the only way to provide you with accurate information. I was lucky enough to have met some inspiring people in my casino adventures throughout the years. And I am thrilled that they are also a part of the CasinoUSA story.
I am excited to see what the future has in store for online casinos in the United States. One thing is sure — this website will only bring you reliable information, top-notch online casinos, and only the best casino games that will take you on an unforgettable adventure.
Finally, my team and I are still learning as we go. There are still a lot of aspects to explore, and we are constantly working on making CasinoUSA better. Having said that, I would love to get your feedback, suggestions, or comments — so feel free to contact me at any time.
