Many pro football teams visit Las Vegas on a regular basis now that the new Allegiant Stadium is home to the Raiders. Visiting teams get to compete against the Raiders while enjoying what Sin City has to offer, including casino gambling. While most of the time, stories involving NFL players in Vegas are fun, the most recent breaking news involving a player is not.

Alvin Kamara, a running back for the New Orleans Saints, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly being involving in an assault case. Video surveillance footage has surfaced showing a man that appears to be Kamara punching a man several times before stomping him outside a casino in Las Vegas on Saturday morning. Police arrested Karama yesterday evening at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium after he competed in the Pro Bowl.

Details of the Arrest

Police took Kamara into custody and interviewed him on the incident. After the interview, he was arrested and charged with battery. Kamara was booked into the local Detention Center but was released on bail late last night.

The victim in the case sustained several injuries including an orbital fracture and was knocked unconscious. According to police, the video surveillance footage matched the details provided by the victim as to what happened.

The man said that he started to talk to some in a group of people while trying to leave the Cromwell Casino. This was around 6:30 am. The elevator doors opened near the group and a man started to walk out with another large group.

One man who was identified as Kamara put his hand on the chest of the victim and the man pushed his hand off. Pushing then ensued and the only thing the man remembers was being hit and kicked, then passing out.

On top of Kamara attacking the man, apparently, three people with the NFL player also decided to stomp him while he was laying on the ground. The police report says that one associate stomped on the victim a total of 16 times.

Kamara’s Account of What Happened

Police were able to determine that it was Kamara who was involved in the incident due to the security footage, eyewitnesses, and the player’s credit card and ID usage at the casino. Police met him at the stadium on Sunday after the game to talk. It was unusual that the police waited so long to do so, but a spokesman for the department said the delay was due to the victim needing treatment.

According to Kamara, he was with friends, his girlfriend, and assistant when the man called one of his friends ugly at the elevator.

Kamara said that a fight broke out and he ran after the victim because he ran away. He thought the man had done something to the group. The police report says that the video does not show the man running away but standing still.

The Saints and Kamara have yet to comment on this incident occurring at the Las Vegas Casino. Kamara stands to appear in court on March 8 regarding the charges.
