Borgata Poker Fall Mini SeriesSummary:

  • The new dates are November 14-19.
  • Borgata Atlantic City will host the event.
  • Live qualifiers will take place online via the NJ Poker site.

This month, the Borgata brand had a large poker series planned, with players set to participate in fall tournament action.

However, the recent attack on MGM Resorts International interfered with the mini-series, and the brand has rescheduled the event for November.

Players can now head to the Borgata Atlantic City from November 14-19 to compete in the events. Prize pools are listed at $1 million in payouts, and a live qualifier for the series will take place online via Borgata Poker and sister license holders.

Is the Hack to Blame?

The hack against MGM Resorts occurred in Las Vegas but essentially spread to properties in other areas. The Borgata in Atlantic City was also affected. The Borgata Poker NJ brand has not formally said the hack is to blame, but it is an accepted reason behind the change. The hack took place just one week before the event was set to take place.

Online poker players’ information and rewards details were still vulnerable, so it made sense to change the event dates. The BetMGM rewards site was down for over a week as experts tried to get services back on track.

It appears that other real money us poker sites such as BetMGM NJ Poker, Borgata Poker, and Partypoker were unaffected by the hack. These poker rooms operate on the same license and offer services with a shared player pool.

Details of the Series

Players who can travel to New Jersey are in luck, as the Borgata offers major poker action in just a few weeks. The $1 million prize pool is still up for grabs for the series, and the Main Event will feature an 8 Max Championship format and take place November 15-18. The event has a higher buy-in of $2,500 and includes a $500,000 guaranteed prize pot.

Anyone interested in competing can register starting on November 11 online at BetMGM Poker. In-person registration will begin on the 12th. Players must be 21 or older to participate.

The Borgata series will also include the popular Saturday Series, which has not returned since COVID-19 began in 2020. The one-day tournament will take place on November 18 and has an $800 buy-in. The prize pool for the event is $200,000.

Events in the series will include a PLO/NLH mix, NLH Survivor, 1K Bounty, and DeepStack Kickoff. Players can choose to compete in one or more events as part of the fall series. Live qualifiers will begin on November 13, so players can try to earn seats at lower price points.
