The Cordish Group of Companies has completed a soft launch of its Live! Casino Pittsburgh on Nov 17 and has plans to proceed with an official opening ceremony on November 24. This is the first mini casino to be launched in the Keystone state. Cordish also has plans to open a second mini casino at a later date.
The mini casino was built at an estimated cost of $150 million and is located just 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh at the Westmoreland Mall in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and takes the place of the former Bon-Ton department store.
This is the first mini casino to open in Pennsylvania after the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) approved 10 mini casino licenses back in 2017. While it carries a mini casino tag, this casino has over 100,000 square feet of gaming space which is pretty impressive for a mini casino. The casino will have <a href="https://www.casinousa.com/games/slots"?750 slot machines and up to 30 table games.

Apart from online casino games, there will be a retail sportsbook thanks to the partnership with Cordish Companies and FanDuel. The gaming area is spread across two floors. The first floor only allows individuals over the age of 21 while the second floor is open to all ages.
While the gaming activities are impressive, there are also non-gaming options which include multiple restaurants and bars playing live music.
Pennsylvania To Benefit Economically
The debut of Live! Casino Pittsburgh is the first time that the Cordish Group is introducing its Live! brand in the Keystone state. The new mini casino is expected to generate up to $188 million in revenue each year. The mini casino will also generate a total of $148 million in construction costs and an estimated $47.5 million in gaming taxes for the government.
Those benefits don’t just stop there as over 500 full time jobs will be created by the casino and a number of part time jobs as well. Pennsylvania will continue to benefit from the issuance of mini casino licenses as the Cordish Group is also planning to open its second mini casino.
Live! Casino Philadelphia is expected to open its doors to the public in early 2021. Cordish Companies have secured a prime location for this mini casino as it is located in the popular stadium district. The opening of Live! Casino Philadelphia will bring an end to Rivers Casino’s monopoly in the Philadelphia market.
