Cosmopolitan Identity Membership moves to MGM RewardsSummary:

  • Cybersecurity breach possibly delayed the transition by a few months.
  • All Tier Points from July 30, 2023, to July 29, 2024, will transfer.
  • Points will be doubled once they are on MGM Rewards.

MGM Resorts announced this week that Identity Membership & Rewards members from The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas will be moved to MGM Rewards this July. Once the move is complete, players will be able to earn double rewards and take advantage of the brand’s reward program.

Details of the Move

All Identity Tier Points earned from July 30, 2023, to July 29, 2024, will transfer to MGM Rewards. On July 30 of this year, the points will be doubled and transferred to MGM Reward Tier Credits. The change has been anticipated for some time now, as MGM finalized a deal to purchase the Cosmopolitan over two years ago.

The brand acquired the company from Blackstone, a private equity firm, for $1.6 billion. MGM will double the tier points and have plans to provide bonuses for Identity members during the transition. The change was supposed to take place in February but was delayed. It is believed that the cybersecurity breach MGM experienced late last year had something to do with the delay.

Based on the Identity table play, players will see their Tier Points moved as well as Table Games Points from the same time period. Members will now see the points as Tier Credits in the MGM Rewards program. Players need to review the terminology within the MGM Rewards program and understand how it works to ensure more points are earned and utilized in the best way possible.

MGM offers a comprehensive website detailing all the rewards program’s features and benefits. Reviewing these details will ensure players can transition seamlessly.

What’s My Status?

For members of the Cosmopolitan program, the player status will transfer based on play. Tier Credits earned from Identity tier points and table gaming will be combined to determine the player’s MGM Reward program status.

MGM Rewards has five levels: Sapphire, Pearl, Gold, Platinum, and NOIR. The top tier is invite-only and reserved for certain types of players. Starting on Sapphire, players need 25,000 tier credits to reach the Pearl level.

For Gold, players need 75,000 credits, and the Platinum level requires a much higher 200,000 tier credits. Players must reach each milestone to earn a higher standing within the MGM Rewards program.

One benefit of moving from the Cosmopolitan program to MGM Rewards is that players will have more ways to earn points and credits. Over 20 regional and Strip locations offer players the ability to earn reward points. This gives players more ways to earn from various venues, such as dining and hotel spending, entertainment, shopping, spas, and more.
