Summary:
- The project officially started last month with no fanfare.
- New president and GM Terry Glebocki will oversee the project.
- The goal is to create a major destination for Delaware.
Delaware Park Casino & Racing is looking to renovate the gaming property in a major way. The Delaware casino will use $10 million to transform the main gaming floor and provide new amenities to guests. The project is already underway and will hopefully enhance the property with a more modern feel.
Creating a Destination in Delaware
The goal of the upgrades is to create a visitor destination in Delaware. The property is hopeful that the area will be received by guests as a smaller version of Atlantic City or Las Vegas. Upgrades will create a more comfortable and modern space for existing visitors as well as bringing in new guests.
The renovations will include changes for all types of gamers. Slot cabinets will be added that include a pod-style for a unique look. Upscale areas are in the mix that will include blackjack and baccarat gaming options. High rollers will feel more at home in an updated space with luxury amenities.
New food and beverage options are also on the table, ready to bring more options for every guest. An expanded VIP bar is also in the plans for an upscale atmosphere.
Along with updating the gaming spaces and food options, the casino will make design changes as well. Comfortable furniture will be added as well as new carpeting. The ceilings are going to be vaulted and murals added for visual interest.
More On Delaware Park Casino
Delaware Park Casino is an older venue located in the state, first owned by the Rickman family. For more than four decades, the family offered a quality experience for guests. In November 2021, the casino changed hands and was taken over by Clairvest Group and Rubico Gaming.
A total of $90 million was spent to acquire the property. The new owners decided to add Terry Glebocki as president and general manager of the casino. She is the former Ocean Casino Resort CEO and is a seasoned professional in the casino industry.
Glebocki will use her knowledge and experience to try and revamp Delaware Park into a major destination. It is unclear how the casino will be able to compare to the vast options offered in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, but officials of the venue are going to try their very best to do so.
No date has been announced as to when the changes will be completed. We expect the casino will work as quickly as possible to have all the renovation work done, especially the casino gaming options and dining.
