Caleb Rogers is an active-duty police officer in Las Vegas who is believed to be responsible for robbing several casinos in 2021 and 2022. The trial against the police officer began this week, and his brother, Josiah Rogers, is now revealing how the robberies when down.
Details of the Testimony
Josiah Rogers took the stand this week to reveal how the robbery plans began with his brother Caleb. Three casino heists occurred in Las Vegas from late 2021 to 2022; Caleb is suspected of each. He could face life in prison because he reportedly used his department issue gun during a robbery.
Josiah told the court that he acted as the getaway driver as Caleb committed the robberies. To get ready, he drove to the Red Rock Casino to figure out the best route for escape once the act was committed. He also stated that the two men purchased a cover for his pickup truck. Holes were placed on the cover so he could see while driving.
The court will give Josiah immunity from prosecution for providing the details against his brother and how they completed the robberies.
Rehearsing the Act
According to Josiah, Caleb said he had to listen to everything he said because he had the knowledge and skill to carry out the robbery. The plan was to leave their apartment in the pickup truck. They would pull over and disguise the truck using the purchased cover.
The two rehearsed placing the cover on the truck and removing it for days before the robbery. Once the robbery occurred, the men would stop on a dark portion of the highway, take the cover off, and then go home.
After the robbery, the brothers returned home and dumped the cash on the table. It was counted and valued at over $73,000. Josiah was given $30,000 from that amount. He moved back home to Ohio after the event took place.
Caleb was not done and is alleged to have robbed two more casinos before being caught at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Police connected the robberies due to security footage that showed how the robberies took place and how the suspect was walking with an unusual gait.
The two brothers have been close all their lives, and Caleb would not even look at Josiah as he provided testimony in the courtroom. The trial will continue and it is expected that there is enough evidence to convict Caleb of these crimes.
