The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has taken a criminal off the streets, having been arrested in a casino robbery case.
Since November, six casinos have been robbed by an assailant, reportedly Dshante Styles. The thirty-three-year-old was arrested on Thursday and is also accused of eight additional armed robberies.
Arrested and Charged in the Robberies
Styles was arrested and processed by police yesterday. He appeared in local court and was sent to the Clark County Detention Center. Police are not stating which Nevada casinos were reportedly robbed by Styles, but we have a few guesses.
Several casinos located off the Strip were robbed within a few months, starting with the Gold Coast in mid-November. Next to be hit was the Green Valley Ranch in December, followed by the Silverton a few days later. The Rampart was also robbed in December.
In early 2023, police reported that they were looking for the same individual in each of the robberies. Police stated that when Styles was in court, he was charged with six counts of robbery with a deadly weapon beginning on November 16. He also faces charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, and grand larceny auto.
A Long Investigation
Once the arrest was made, police hosted a press conference to provide information. Deputy Chief Nick Farese stated that department members worked long hours and tirelessly to make the arrest in the case. Styles was believed to be involved with several robberies in Las Vegas and in the Henderson area.
Police have categorized Styles as a dangerous person and feel that the suspect was a threat to the community. Police officers reported that Styles allegedly participated in a robbery on Tuesday, with the casino remaining unnamed.
A stolen vehicle was found on Silverado Ranch Boulevard, and officers were able to connect the car to the robbery. Styles was approached for questioning, and he ran. Las Vegas Police who have been tightening security with K9 units in recent weeks were able to apprehend him on Thursday and make an arrest in the case.
This is not the first time Styles has been arrested for robbery. He was sent to jail in 2008 and 2009 for various charges stemming from robberies. It is unclear as to how much prison time he may face for the string of holdups he is charged with off the Strip. An arraignment hearing should be on the books soon with more information provided on the locations of the robbery and additional details.
