A new casino is coming to the Reno-Sparks area, and it is gaining a lot of interest from players.
Olympia Gaming has been busy constructing the new Legends Bay Casino, the first new casino to launch in the region in over two decades. The venue is set to open later this summer, with easy access via its Interstate 80 location.
Located at Sparks Marina, the new casino will be home to a large 80,000 square foot gaming floor. The area will house slots, table games and video poker. Several restaurants will also be located in this area for dining needs.
On top of the casino gaming options, there are plans to add a sportsbook. Derek Stevens, the owner of Circa Sports, recently announced that a deal was made with Olympia Gaming to introduce the Circa Sports brand to the Sparks area.
Circa Sports is relatively new, having launched at the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas back in 2019. Since its inception, the sports betting brand has branched out and offers retail services in five different casinos in Nevada. Mobile gaming is offered in other states including Iowa and Colorado.
Stevens is excited to launch Circa Sports at Legends Bay since it is the first casino to be constructed from the ground up in Reno-Sparks in about 30 years.
Long-Running Project for Olympia Gaming
The opening of the Legends Bay Casino this summer marks the end of a long journey for Olympia Gaming. The company started this project in 2007, with plans to create a casino hotel. The project started and stopped several times due to economic issues, including the 2008 Great Recession.
Of course, just recently, the operator faced the COVID-19 pandemic, which certainly halted plans. The operator broke ground on the casino in 2021 and has been steadily working towards opening day. Over the years, the design and concept of the casino property has changed and officials behind the project are now excited to see their concepts come to life.
Chief Operating Officer for Olympia Gaming, DeCourcy Graham, commented on the Legends Bay Casino project by stating:
We initially started the planning in 2007, so watching the designs and concepts transform, evolve and go from paper to reality is a great accomplishment for the entire team involved with the project.
It is expected that the casino opening will boost small businesses in the area. Shopping centers tend to see more traffic when located near a gaming venue. For the Legends Bay Casino, the property is situated next to The Outlets at Legends, a shopping area developed by RED Development. There are restaurants, shops, and a movie theater that should see more traffic thanks to the casino.
