The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has been forced to act against irresponsible adults once again due to leaving minors unattended.
During a recent board meeting, three adults were placed on the involuntary exclusion list after leaving minors alone while they gambled inside various casinos. The board also fined Evolution for allowing an unauthorized person to access a Philadelphia live dealer studio.
Minors Left Unattended
Three individuals were added to the involuntary exclusion list during this week’s Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board meeting. These individuals left children unattended while they gambled at various local casinos.
One male patron left a 13-year-old alone outside in a vehicle when the temperature was 92 to gamble at the Live! Casino and Hotel in Philadelphia. The child was left alone for 39 minutes while the man was in the casino sportsbook.
A second male was placed on the list after leaving a 12- and 13-year-old child in a running car, also at the Live! venue. He played slots for 31 minutes while the children were left alone.
The last person on the list was a female who left four children in a running car in the heat. She then went inside Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack for 25 minutes, spending her time playing slot machines and at the food court.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board works hard to oversee casinos and gaming facilities in the state, ensuring players have a safe and secure way to explore games. Along with regular laws and rules, the board spends much of its time protecting children from harm as adults continue to leave young people alone to gamble.
The problem with minors left unattended in Pennsylvania is such an issue that regulators had to create a campaign titled “Don’t Gamble with Kids” to try and stop such actions by adults. The board will remove an individual’s gambling privileges if they are found to be guilty of abandoning children to play casino games or visit a sportsbook.
Evolution Fined $7,500
Also, during the meeting, software company Evolution was fined $7,500 for allowing an unauthorized individual to access a Philadelphia live dealer studio. The individual was able to access several areas of the studio, including a dressing space for employees.
Only those authorized to access the live dealer studios are allowed inside. The restrictions help to protect game integrity, as dealers host table games and game shows online via the studio. It is unclear as to exactly what went on in the studio and what other areas the unauthorized person has access to.
