Fighting a Labor Shortage
In the United States, a labor shortage has caused many businesses to struggle when it comes to finding employees to cover every shift. This is happening in several industries including casino gambling. For the Rivers Casino Portsmouth, officials do not seem too concerned about hiring enough employees.
Human Resources Vice President Johnee Ingram says that the process is an ongoing challenge, but nothing they cannot handle. The 1,300 positions must be filled by the end of the year. According to Ingram, the turnout at recent job fairs and excitement of potential employees gives her confidence that the positions will be filled.
The VP stated further that some positions are harder to fill than others. It may be a challenge at first, but she feels the casino will stay on track. Interested parties can apply for all types of jobs including marketing, table game dealers, human resources, food and beverage service and leadership, engineering, and more.
Once completed, the $300 million dollar facility will offer visitors plenty of exciting gaming and entertainment options. Visitors are expected to travel from far and wide to take part in the new venue once it is up and running. The casino will be a major revenue driver for the region as well as help local businesses see more foot traffic.
Upcoming Job Fairs
Anyone interested in employment within the Rivers Casino Portsmouth are encouraged to visit the upcoming job fairs. Karl Waitner, the Hospitality Vice President, stated that anyone should apply, even those who feel their current career path would not translate to the gaming industry. Many areas translate into the gambling business, providing new career opportunities for a wider audience.
Interested parties can attend the next job fair at Portsmouth Sportsplex on August 20th. After that, the casino will not host another fair until September 28th at the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach. The casino is set up to host one job fair per month, leaving plenty of time to evaluate applications and interviews to find the right people for available positions.
