It’s almost time to welcome a new casino facility in Nebraska. As Grand Island Casino is in the works, the Nebraska Racing & Gaming Commission has approved a temporary gaming facility at Fonner Park. The racing facility will be remodeled to offer amenities as well as real money casino gaming.

Temporary Casino Space for Grand Island

Construction of the temporary facility begins immediately. Players will eventually have access to gambling services within the concourse of Fonner Park with 300 slot titles on offer. Horse betting kiosks are also going to be included plus simulcasting options. A small area with a snack bar is also in the plans plus the Elite Casino Resort Club.

By next year, the space will also include blackjack, craps and roulette. The table games will offer an added element for players who want to enjoy additional gambling options. Grand Island Casino Resort General Manager, Vince Fiala, commented on the new project by stating:

The operator is excited to have the Commission’s approval to start a temporary casino to offer gaming via the Grand Island brand. The company looks forward to being a part of the racing and gaming industry in the state.

The temporary space will offer services in the coming months pending the appropriate approvals. Once up and running, the casino will continue to function until the full resort is completed.

Additional Details Regarding Grand Island Casino Resort

The casino and racing services will provide an additional form of revenues for Nebraska. Fonner Park CEO Chris Kotulak commented on the approval, stating that it’s a big win for the Nebraska Thoroughbreds and the Thoroughbred horsemen and the agricultural industry of the state.

A career fair is planned for the property this weekend to locate individuals who will work a variety of positions. More information on the job fair can be viewed on the Grand Island Casino Resort website.

Casino operations will help bring new revenues to the state as well as job opportunities for residents. The full resort will be home to 650 slot machines, table games, and a sportsbook. A hotel is also planned for the area, set to offer 116 guest rooms.

There will be several dining options on site that will include Draft Day Sports Lounge and Ruthie’s Steak & Seafood. A luxury spa provides additional amenities along with a show lounge. Guests can also spend time relaxing within the indoor and outdoor swimming pool.
