Summary:
- Lady Luck Nemacolin is redesigning the casino floor to add new games.
- Hollywood will remove 30 titles.
- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved the reduction.
Two casinos in Pennsylvania will have fewer slot machines soon after gaining approval for a reduction by the state Gaming Control Board.
The PGCB approved Hollywood Casino Morgantown and Lady Lucky Nemacolin for a reduction at its most recent meeting. Hollywood is simply reducing its size, while Lady Luck has plans to add new content to the casino floor.
Lady Luck to Offer New Games
When speaking to the PGCB, Lady Luck officials describe a transaction involving new slot machines at the venue. Eighty-one new titles are coming to the gaming floor, while 100 will be sent back to the casino’s parent company, Churchill Downs Incorporated.
Lady Luck recently renewed its gaming license in June and has been offering services every day of the week. The property plans to add the new machines and is working on renovations to create a more appealing casino for visitors.
New management wants to add new games regularly to ensure players have exciting content on a frequent basis. The casino is only dropping 19 games once you consider the new installation. However, more titles may be added in the future. The casino is also adding a new entertainment space and coffee bar.
Hollywood Casino Removes 30 Games
Hollywood Casino will remove 30 games from its gaming porch, offering only 117 machines. These slots will be removed from the gaming porch, which is not very popular among guests. This area’s win per unit per day is close to 75% less than other games‘ facilities.
This is not the first time the casino has removed slots since it opened in late 2021. The casino first removed 17 slots just one month after opening. By the following December, the casino removed an additional 14 games from the gaming porch.
The casino is not concerned that removing the games will lessen the revenues earned. The casino officials stated that taxable revenue continues to grow yearly, which is an encouraging sign despite the number of slot games.
The casino will soon offer only 697 slots overall. No time frame has been given as to when the machines will be removed. The casino is hoping to create more non-gaming entertainment and add the options in the empty space left behind by the machine’s removal.
Both casinos have no plans to remove or add staff members due to the slot changes. It will not affect the employment of anyone at the venues.
